Have we tried more guns yet?

Today Twitter and the Evangelical world is burning because the a report came out showing there has been rampant hidden sex abuse within the Southern Baptist Convention, or “SBC”. Shocking, utterly shocking.

Who would have guessed that an organization founded to perpetuate segregation within Christendom would end up corrupt?
I know there are good people and the organization would argue that it does good.. and maybe even that good outweighs the bad..
But there are many that argue that the real problem is still outside.. Men just aren’t being Manly enough. Real Men* wouldn’t do such things.. they would defend their little women.
We need MORE patriarchy not less.
Hence the headline. This is how America quite often solves its problems. We double down. Rising gun violence? We need more Good Guys* with guns! MORE GUNS!!! In the South it was fixing the “issues” with Jim Crow with more Jim Crow.
Right now in the South it’s a fight to limit what the kids should learn. DeSantis’ Florida is requiring the teaching of dangers of Communism while banning what essentially is open discussion of America’s sorted history of racism.
This isn’t a purely Rightwing phenomenon either. You could say the same for gender issues right now and the Left. “The kids have questions about gender.. maybe we should try confusing them even more?” Instead of just saying, talk to your parents or a counselor.
These are complicated issues in complicated times. But not that complicated. It will be blindingly obvious to anyone reading the history books how this all came about, and how it continues to come about.
